John Muniko Makorere a man aged 38 years, lived in Tarime District 200meters from Acacia North Mara Gold mine previously knows as Barrick Gold mine- North Mara, after being employed as Temporally casual labour in Acacia North Mara gold mine without any changes in his life and family in general due to low wages he earned from employment, He decided to grasp an opportunity available in his home land which he believe it will change his life within a short period of time compare to his previously employment in Acacia North Mara.
John Muniko with family land of more than 120 hectors of natural fertility land, he planed to invest in Agricultural activities by growing short period crops (horticultural) and involves in environmental conservation which his family had practices before.
Through natural bushes available in their land, he decided to established bee keeping project, the project which will enabling him to earn more than Tshs 12,000,000/= a year by investing more than 500 bee halves.
In villages Surrounding North Mara Acacia gold mine, it is not easy for a young boy to take action as John to invest in Agriculture and Environment conservation activities, which will need some times to mature as far as the financial matters is concerned, rather most of youth they don’t want to west their time investing in agriculture and that is why they use a short cut ways of getting money by involving in intrusion activities, regardless the risk they facing in intrusion activities.
Mr John continuous to comment that, even though the agricultural activities needs some time to mature, but it a safe way of getting money and change the living condition of some one compared to invasion to Acacia North Mara Gold Mine, “But our Government it should make sure that, all policy concerned with youth should be fulfilled accordingly rather than remain in writing so as to improving the living conditions of the youth”.
